Happy New Year!
by Kayla Trail
I hope you all had some Happy New Year celebration and so far, 2014 is treating you well. I'm not really one for resolutions for the same reason I'm not one for New Years parties: they set you up for failure with their high expectations and promises of new starts that you are perfectly capable of making any other day of the year.
Be that as it may, I am very excited for a new year, now with more blogging! Well, what I hope will be more blogging. I'm trying to write more in general this year. This past November I won my 5th Nanowrimo and I'm tired of being a writer for only one month out of the year. So this year, hopefully, some things will change and I will be more productive with my time and pump out some more words, words, words.
Along with more writing, I'd also like to do more reading. You know, for inspiration! I would like to read 35 books in the year 2014 and I'll document my progress here with what I'm calling Haiku Reviews! Here is an example with the first book that I read this year.
The Sisters Brothers by Patrick DeWitt
Rush, kills some and shows others
Their true character.
So, that's what they're going to look like. Nifty, huh? I will also be continuing with some travel blogs that I am way behind on. I have lots of stories to tell you from last year and hopefully more traveling will be done this year! (I can only hope.) I will hopefully be going on some more new adventures this year that I will not forget to recount here.
Some other places you can find me: I'm a weekly contributer on Paperlinks. We are five gals who keep in touch, write about life, art, and anything else that strikes our fancy. We are also beginning to work on collaborative projects that include something from all five of us! If you would like to follow us, that would be amazing.
I am currently experiencing my first winter in Seattle. So far, it's not been as terrible as I thought it would be. Coming from California, I'm naturally a wuss when it comes to the cold. But the chill has brought a beauty of it's own to my life. Talk to you all soon. Be well!
